Why beeswax? Well, mostly because it smells so good and then because it makes you feel good when you smell it, and that's because it is good... Good for you and the environment.
BEES are marvelously creative and productive creatures. They make honey and tend to our gardens, doing most of the hard work helping our flowers, vegetables and fruit trees to be productive. BEESWAX smells great too, it is the ultimate eco-friendly, naturally sustainable wax. Bees work incredibly hard to produce beeswax; collectively flying 240,000 km to collect pollen from about 30 million flowers, and consuming 5kg of honey to produce just 500g of lovely, golden, deliciously naturally scented beeswax.
Wax is produced by worker bees in special glands beneath the abdomen and is used to build storage cells for honey in the hive. A Beekeeper removes full honeycomb from the hive to harvest the honey. The beeswax (honeycomb) is carefully washed with water to remove all traces of honey and then it is melted, strained and crafted by hand into beautiful golden candles.

- When burning, a beeswax candle emits negative ions which attach to positive ions emitted by dust, mould, and other toxins in the air. The toxins become heavier than the surrounding air and fall to the ground, thus cleansing the air.
- A well made, pure beeswax candle burns with a bright, clean flame.
- Beeswax is non toxic.
- The refreshing honey aroma of a pure beeswax candle is soothing and kind to the most sensitive nose.
- Beeswax will not melt in storage, but may become malleable in high temperatures.
- Being an entirely untreated natural product beeswax candles may develop a fine misty layer over time. This is bloom and in no way affects the performance of the candle, it can be polished of with a clean soft cloth.
- Pure Australian Beeswax - each candle is unique and very special, a gift from nature.
Some tips to help you get the best from your candles
- Remove all packaging and labels from your candle. Our packing is minimal and labels are designed to be planted - in the garden, in a pot; whichever you choose. The labels are handmade paper, primed with an Australian native seed mix to provide flowers to encourage pollinating insects into your backyard or balcony garden. The bees have given us beeswax, we can show our appreciation by growing some of their favourite flowers for them and their friends.
- Ensure the candle is placed on a stable, non-flammable, heat resistant surface before lighting.
- Always trim the wick to around 5mm before lighting your candle.
- Burn your candle until the wax pool reaches within a few millimetres of the edge before extinguishing. This will help your candle burn evenly and efficiently. A pillar candle of 6cm diameter will take 2.5 - 3 hours to achieve a full melt pool. The fine rim edge wax will be consumed as the flame burns deeper into the body of the candle and the rising heat cases the rim wax to melt into the candle.
- Candles love company, please do not leave them alone when they are burning, and watch them carefully when children and pets are around.
- Protect your candle from breezes, by placing them away from fans and air conditioner vents, it will help them to last longer and burn properly. We suggest that you do not burn your beeswax pillar candles in a hurricane lamp or glass lantern, as the enclosure may trap the heat and restrict the oxygen available to the flame. This may cause the wax to melt faster than the flame can consume it and may cause the flame to produce smoke and the wax to spill over the side of the candle.
- Keep candles away from curtains and do not burn them within shelving or bookcases.
- Extinguish the candle flame by drowning it in the wax pool. Then, use a wick dipper or other non-flammable object to lift, straighten and centre the wick. This eliminates smoking when extinguished and primes the wick ready for the next time you light your candle.
- Molten beeswax is very hot, do not transport the candle until the wax has set.
